Finally!

This semester I mostly read serious books like murder books and stuff. But I just recently started reading funny books and I love them. It was pretty easy finding books that I liked because whenever I finished a book I just went into the libary during study hall and looked for a new book that interested me. The libarian recomended a lot of books to me which was helpful and the book talks in class were also helpful. I read one of the books someone did a trailer on in class becasue it sounded really good. I usally talk about books with my mom becasue she is a big reader. She reads a new book every few days. I just started talking to my sister about books becasue she has to read for this class also. I never had any trouble meeting the weekly quota I thought it was going to be hard but after I started reading a lot it was easy to read 100 pages a week. I usally read in my room at night becasue it is really relaxing or I read in study hall becasue its really boring. I think I read the most in study hall becasue I never want to do my homework so I just read instead. I dont like reading with music on or the tv or anything becasue it destracts me a lot. I read mostly in silence so I can concentrate. Whenever I am reading I dont really check my phone or anything becasue I usally am very focused on the book and what is happening. Im glad we got to pick the books we wanted to read for this class, it made things a lot easier and I actually read the books for once!

Fridayy

So I started this new book called Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang by Chelsea Lately! It's the same author of the last book I read. I usally read serious books and scary ones but I am really liking these funny ones lately. I watch Chelsea Handlers show on E news and it's hilirious so that's why I started reading her books. I'm about half way through this one right now. The last book by Chelsea was in her friends perspective and this one is in hers. I have read a total of 102 pages this week & a total of 1,350 pages this semester!

Favorite Sentences

1. “There are two kinds of people I don't trust: people who don't drink and people who collect stickers.”
2. “You know you're a hot mess when the only person buying you drinks all night is yourself.”
3. “Why he would agree to install an eight-by-eight-foot fish tank and then not fill it with a single dolphin made me want to burn his eyebrows off.”

My favorite sentence out of the three of these from the book "The Lies Chelsea Told Me" is number 3 becasue its so funny. She is really random in her book and some of the things she says are so stupid but really funny.

Currently

So I'm still reading The Lies Chelsea Told Me by Chelsea Handler. I have read 100 pages this week and a total of 1,248 pages this semester! I'm almost done with the book then I'll start her other book called Hello Vodka It's Me Chelsea. Haha that's a bad title but I promise it's not all about drinking. It's kind of like a biography of her life. My sister read it a few years ago!

Skip

So yesturday I missed school to catch up on sleep. It was so awsome I definitely needed it. Ive been working everyday and doing my online english class. It is so stressful. I cant wait till december becasue I will be done with all of this! Yayaya. So since I stayed home yesturday I read a lot of my Chelsea Handler book. It is soo funny! The last chapter I read was about how Chelsea made up this whole lie about her younger brother and got everyone on the staff to believe it. Haha it was really funny because everyone believed it and her brother was so embarassed. The book has many chapters in it and every chapter has a new person's story on how Chelsea told lies about them. I am almost done with the book! After this one I will probably read her other book because this one is really good so far.

Practice Diction Analysis

The exert The Mezzanine by Nicholson Baker uses high language as he decribes the lobby and escalators as, "area of shine where it fell against their brushed steel side panels." His connotation diction is picturesque and suggestive of the lobby's highlighs and what he views as he walks through the building. Baker's voice creates a very relaxing and easy mood to The Mezzanine. He uses harsh words as he sets a picturesque setting to the story.

Oh my gosh it's so cold outside! I hate the rain! It's so depressing, it makes everyone really tired. So since this week I couldn't go outside because it's freezing I just read instead. I started a new book this week called The Lies That Chelsea Told Me by Chelsea Handler. It's soo funny! I usally don't read comedy books but I actually like this one!! Hahah it's hilirious so far. I read 102 pages of it this week and a total of 1,148 pages this semester.

Style Mapping

In the exert Stardust, Neil Gaiman uses high language as he describes the houses in Wall as, "old grey stone and with dark slate roofs." The tone is more connotation then denotative because it is suggesting and picturesque of the city near Wall and the long packed roads from city to city. Stardust has a harsh tone to it because of the dull and clattering effects to the whole novel.

Blood Meridain by Cormac McCarthy describes the low dusk and bitter arcs of the night sky. His connotation language conveys the harsh and gentle setting of the exert. Meridian uses figurative language to also describe his fear of citizenry and uses vast diction to add a old fashion appearance to the novel.

The book Falling Hard edited by Betsey Franco are love poems written by teenagers. It has a high elevation with elegant and fancy diction. The tone is connotation because it has an emotional feel to it and describes the poetic and lyrical emotions of young love. The musical sounds are harmonious and melodious which make the book have a light quantity to it.

Quarterly

During this 9 weeks I am actually surprised that I have so much. I never read because I think it is boring but now that we get to pick what ever book we want to read, I enjoy it now. I read a lot of suspenseful books and or mysteries because they keep me on my toes while I am reading them. The reading that has challenged me the most so far would have to be the book A Mans Search for Meaning. It was a really hard book because I didn't really want to read it but I had to for my online class. I finished it but it took me a while because I hated reading it. I usually read in study hall or at night in my bed. I never really have anything to do in study hall since I have it first period so I just read a lot. I want to set a goal for myself to read at least 4 more books by the end of the semester. I read 3 books this 9 weeks so next 9 weeks I want to beat it. This 9 weeks has been really fun in this class and I enjoy coming to it everyday unlike my art class which I dread going to! I don't no if we have to put this or not, but I read 101 pages this week and a total of 1,046 pages this semester and I finished The Weight Of Silence!

2 Hour Delay!

Oh my gosh im so glad we had a 2 hour delay this morning! I definitely needed it, I think everyone did. I think it was from the fog but I dont no, im just glad we got one! Yesturday all the seniors didnt have to go to school and then today a 2 hour delay! I can definitely get used to this. So I worked 5 hours yesturday in the walgreens pharmacy for my internship/job shadow. Omg it took forever I thought I was going to die. Haha all the people are nice there but its just so hard. I didnt realize that the internship class im in at class would be this hard, but it really is. You have to get 140 hours! That dosent sound like a lot but with school and homework and extra cirricular activities and online classes its really hard! Im not that behind on hours but im definitely not ahead. I have to average 10 hours or more each week till the end of the semester to make 140 hours or more. Its a good learning experience but it is not the career i want to go into. It is kinda boring and you do the same exact thing every day and its super hard. I am getting the hang of everything but I still dont think i want to go to college for pharmacy. Oh yeah so im still reading The Weight Of Silence and its super good!! I definitely recomend it to everyone. I only have a few more pages left! Im not sure what book i will read next. Maybe i'll ask my mom becasue she seems to read pretty good books so far!

Favorite Sentences Of The Quarter

1. "As I speed along I see the baby girls body rushing down the river, keeping pace with my car, trying to outrun the image." This is my favorite sentence of all because it really helps me get a picture in my mind of what Allsion is thinking. She has flash backs of the horrible night when Bryan killed her baby but she blames herself for doing it.

2. "No clothes, no shoes, no boxes filled with keepakes. I've been erased." This is my second favorite sentence becasue Allison feels as if her parents have earsed her from there life. She just got out of jail and goes to see her parents but they have forgotten about her becasue of the mistake she made 4 years ago.

3. "When we saw a monrade smoking his own cigarettes, we knew he had given up faith in his strength to carry on." This is from a different book then my other 2 favorite sentences are from. This sentence is a big part of the book A Mans Search For Meaning becasue it tells what prisoners do in the concentration camps when they have given up all hope for themselves.

Ugh I'm in study hall right now & it's soo boring! Luckily I have my phone so I can get onto the Internet and blog for this week! This week I've been reading The Weight Of Silence still & I'm almost done with it yayy! I also finished Mans Search For Meaning this week! The book was boring and I really didn't like it haha. But anyways, I have read 110 pages this week and a total of 945 pages this semester!

Finally Friday!

Oh my gosh this week took FOREVER! I'm soo glad it's Friday, if it wasn't I'd definitely skip today haha. I'm so excited for this weekend! Were going to the notre dame game on Saturday with one of my friends! & next week we get to miss school Wednesday to go do a job shadow or college visit! I'm definitely sleeping in & going to my internship at like 12. Soo anyways, the book The Weight Of Silence that I am reading is super good! I am almost done with it! The two little girls got kidnapped and everyone is blaming Calli's alcoholic dad but no one nos where he is! I can't wait to find out the end of the book and see who took Calli & Petra. Oh I finished the book The Mans Search For Meaning! It was so boring in the beginning but towards the end it got pretty good. I wouldn't recommend the book to anyone because it really didn't like it and I only had to read it for my online class. But I'm so glad I'm done with that! I'll probably finish The Weight Of Silence this weekend and then start another book!

A Mans Search for Meaning

A Mans Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl is book I am reading for my online english class. It is about small concentration camps and a boy who survived them. I just started the book so I havent really found out a lot of stuff yet. He explains that he worked his way up in the camp doing different jobs like digging water holes and building rail road tracks. The book is kind of boring right now and I dont really want to read another book on concentration camps because there sad. But I have to read it for my test online, its so hard! I really hope the book gets better and isnt to sad.

Currently

I am reading The Weight of Silence and I just stared reading A Mans Search for Meaning. I started reading A Mans Search for Meaning because I have to for my online english 12 class. It's an okay book so far, I'd rather read The Weight of Silence though because it's a lot more interesting. I read 103 pages this week and a total of 835 pages this semester.

Favorite Sentences:

1. "When we saw a monrade smoking his own cigarettes, we knew he had given up faith in his strength to carry on."

2. " Little does he know of the hard fight for existence which raged among the prisoners."

3. "It is about the crucifixion and the deaths of the great army of unknown and unrecorded victims."

Sentence 1 is my favorite because it really gives an inside to the concentration camps and what went on in them. Most books about concentration camps dont go into detail about the life there and what really happened.

The Weight Of Silence

I started this new book called the Weight Of Silence. It's soo good so far! It's about this 7 year old girl named Calli. She hasn't spoken one word for 3 years because of a traumatic event in her past! They haven't said what traumatic event was yet but I really want to no! Calli is a shy little girl and has one best friend named Petra. Petra is like Calli's voice for her. She and Calli go in the woods all the time and play together in their very small college town they live in. The book hasn't gotten to the hole problem yet but I'm hoping it will soon! My mom said this book is very suspenseful at the end. So I'm excited to see what happens through this book!

Sentence Of The Month & Currently

I started reading the book called The Weight Of Silence by the same author of my last book. The book is super good so fair, I have read 102 pages this week and a total of 732 pages this semester.

Favorite sentences this month:

1. "I dont know that anyone could have saved Bryan from herself. But I can save myself. I can be happy." This is one of my favorite quotes because it is at the end of the book right after after Byran commits suicide. This sentence sums up the conclusion and shows how even though Bryan is gone, Allison can still live her life.

2. "As I speed along I see the baby girls body rushing down the river, keeping pace with my car, trying to outrun the image." This is also my favorite sentence because it shows how Allisons past was haunting her and that she can not just run away from what she did.

3. "Leave her there. She's not your sister, she's a monster." This sentence is my 3rd favorite because it really shows how Bryan thinks of Allison. She hates her for getting pregnant and hates her for being her older sister.

Poet Of The Month

My favorite poem we have read this year is called "September 12, 2001" by X J Kennedy. It's my favorite because its really personal and he expresses his deep thoughts about what happened on 9/11. The beginning of the poem sounds dark and depressing but at the end it gives a sense of hope and liveliness. I hope we read more of X J Kennedy's poems in class because they are really interesting. My next favorite poem in class was called "First Kiss" by April Lardner. It's kind of a corny poem but it is kind cute too. Haha I'm not sure why it is one of my favorites but I like reading it because its funny and cheesy. "The Trail is Not a Trail" by Gary Synder is my third favorite poem. It just talks about a man driving in his car and walking on a trial. It is a little boring but I like it because it is simple. It reminds me of Robert Frost's "A Road Not Taken" and I love that poem.

Omg I definitely just found out that we have spell check on here! That's so awesome because i totally suck at spelling. Also this blog is late because I wasn't here on Friday so I didn't no what to do on the Friday blog.

Currently!

I finished These Things Hidden and now I am going to start The Weight Of Slience. It it written by the same author, Heather Gudenkauf! I love her style of writting, it is really interesting and different. I read 105 pages this week and a total of 630 this semester.

Favorite Sentences:
1. "Its all my fault. It wasnt her fault aboout the baby. I was mine."

2. "I know that I will never see Joshua Kelby-my son-again."

3. "I dont know that anyone could have saved Bryan from herself. But I can save myself. I can be happy."

Sentence 3 is my favorite becasue Allison took the blame for the murder that Bryan commited and in the end Bryan still couldnt find peace with what she had done but Allison could.

Ready For The Next

I finally finished my book!!! And oh my gosh let me tell you, it was amzing! I definitely recomend this book, These Things Hidden, to everyone! It got sooooooo good at the end! The whole book was good but at the end it was bam! You find out that Allison had twins and that Bryan, Allison's siter, was the one who actually killed the baby and drawed her in the lake! And the other baby they gave to Christipher, the father, to take care of. Christipher leaves town and has his sister and step dad take care of the baby for him but they can't so they leave the baby boy at a fire station. And get this, Allison gets a new job at a book store that is ruin by a lady named Clare and Clare adapted a son named Joshua && Joshua is actually Allison's son!! But Clare and Allison don't no that till the very end! On the other hand, Bryan, Allison's sister, finds out that Allison's son, Joshua, is alive and she try's to kill him! In the end Joshua doesnt die, luckily, and Bryan is so much regret that she commits suicide and jumps in the lake where she drawned the baby girl! I was freaking out when I read this, it's sooo amazingly good! It never has a dull moment!

Yayaya Almost Done!

This week I have read a total of 117 pages and a total of 525 this semester! I only have about 30 pages left of my book so I'll probably try and finish it tonight! The author, Heather Gudenkauf, wrote another book called The Weight of Silence. My mom is reading it right now so when she finishes, which will probably be in about 1 day, I think I'll start that book up! My mom said These Things Hidden is a better boom so far but she'll have to keep reading to see what happens at the end. I really like this author, her style of writing is really interesting and I never get bored reading her stuff. Hopefully I can find more then 2 books she has written!

Currently!

I have only a few more chapters left in my book, These Things Hidden, and I'm so excited to see how it ends! I don't really no what book I'm going to read next but I'm not sure if it can top this one I'm reading now because it's really good. The main character Allison is changing her life around now that she is out of jail and just got s job working at the local book store. I can relate to my book because I also just got a job! Allison was also 16 years old when she went to jail and I'm only 18 and the thought of going to jail that young is unimaginable. I wouldn't be able to comprehend it.

Favorite sentences:

1. "I am twenty one and I'm starting to look like an old woman."

2. "As I speed along I see the baby girls body rushing down the river, keeping pace with my car, trying to outrun the image."

3. "She didn't run away, she didn't yell and scream at me like I thought she would."

Sentence number 2 is my favorite because Bryann is having flash backs of the past and being tourrured/ haunted by her and Allisons mistakes. She keeps remembering the night of the murder and can't get away from it.

2. "Leave her there. She's not your sister, she's a monster."

Sentence number 3 is my favorite but I don't really no way. It was just a really good part of the book.

Sanguine

Sooo I totally just used one of our vocabulary words as my title! Always thinking ;)It's not really how I feel but I thought it was a cool word! Ugh but anyways I'm sooo confused about this blog thing still! Are we soppost to talk about our book every time or just whatever? Ah so many questions! But oh my gosh I seriously can't wait for the weekend to come! And it's a 3 day weekend! Haha bonus! I'm going to sleep in everyday till about 12 or maybe 1, I don't no I haven't decided yet!

Well since I don't no if we have to blog about just our book or other stuff, I guess I'll just talk about my book just in case. I'm still reading These Things Hidden and it just keeps getting better and better! I love it! This perfect little family just got robbed and the main character Allison just told about her pregnancy at 16 years old and how she made her sister keep it a secret and help her get rid of the baby. It's actually kinda a sad story but it's really good cause it keeps you on your toes the hole time! Unfortunately I'm a slow reader and I hate reading so it's kinda taking me a while to get through this book. But eventually I will finish it! Probably! Well maybe! Actually yes! I'm definitly going to finish it, I'll force my self to!

I wonder how many words I have typed? I'm typing this from my phone so the screen is really small and I can't figure out how to do word count or scroll up. Ha awesome! Today has just been great. Not! I got my phone taken away 2nd period :/ But no worries I got it back after work at 5! Oh great that means my 2nd period teacher will be watching me the rest of the year like a hawk to make sure I'm not "using" my phone. But in all actuality, my phone wasn't the one that went off in class! My teacher just thought it was mine because I had my bag on my desk in front of me. Oh well I got it back and my mom didn't really care, luckily!

Well I'm gonna go because I'm afraid that my phone will shut off unexspectly or I'm going to drop it on the fall and all my writting will be erased. If that happened I definitely wouldn't rewrite this haha that'd be way to much work! So I'll just go now! Gosh I really hope I got around 400 words so I don't have to blog again!

Ps. If any of my sentences don't make sence just ignore it. It'll probably be because my auto correct on my phone, it messes up words all the time and my writting never makes sence haha.

Friday!

I took the personality test and surprisingly it was right! It described my personality perfectly! I was super suprised because some of the questions were really weird and random. The test said I was very organized, social in groups and something else that I can't remember but it was right haha.

Currently

I have been reading the book called These Things Hidden this week. I can only read one book at a time because I get confused if I start one book during another.

Total pages read: 102
Book this week: These Things Hidden

Sentences of the week:

1. "As I move through the hallways of Gertrude House I hear the whispers of 'killer' and the angry, disgusted faces of the other residents. I will never be free of my past as long as I stay.." Page 92

2. "I have no money, no job, no friends and my family has disowned me, but I'm ready. I have to be."

3. "Across the doll's bare chest is one word, slashed in black permanent marker, a word that I know will follow me everywhere, no matter where I go. Killer." Page 35

The second sentence is one of my favorites so far in the book. It shows how strong Allison is and her confidence to want to turn her life around. I would not be able to go somewhere new with no friends or no money and be as ready for it as she is.

These Things Hidden

I'm reading this boom called These Things Hidden and oh my gosh it's so good! My mom reads a lot and I asked her if I could barrow one of hers books for school and she showed me this one. I love reading true stories and that's just what this book is! These Things Hidden is about a young girl who is convicted of one degree murder when she is 17 and is sentenced to 10 years in prison. I can't put the book down when I'm reading it because it is such a page turner! The chapters are set up different then other books, each chapter is in a different persons perspective. It makes the book more interesting because you get to see how other people react and there emotions on what's happening. I am about half way through the book and I can't wait to see what happens at the end! I definitely recommend this book to people, it's so good!

This is my very first post! This blogging is so difficult! I apprently made two blogs but I dont no how to switch them back and forth haha. Oh well! I guess I will just have to keep posting on this one for now!
